Firefighters competed in a Combat Challenge this weekend.

It’s an event that simulates the physical demands of real-life fire fighting. Competitors raced against themselves, their opponent and the clock.

More than 250 firefighters across the country signed up for the challenge. The top three qualifiers will go to the World Challenge in Las Vegas.

Children also competed in the challenge Sunday.

The Kentucky Fire Commission was the local host of the event.
