A late-night fire destroyed a shed at a Girl Scout camp in Jessamine County Sunday.

It happened just before 11:00 p.m. at Camp Shawano, off Newman Road.

Firefighters said a two-story shed, containing maintenance equipment, was destroyed in the fire.

Officials also said they were able to move a vehicle away from the fire in time, but a small utility vehicle sitting nearby was damaged.

Local Girl Scouts use Camp Shawano for various activities year-round.

Firefighters said they don’t know what started the fire but a fire investigator will be on the scene Monday morning.
