A quick response from the Lexington Fire Department kept an apartment fire from spreading to other units Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said the fire started around 4:30 p.m., in a single unit at the Reserve at Merrick Apartments on Montavesta Road and Dove Run Road.

The Fire Department said no one was at home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.

Some nearby condominiums were evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
