Few Problems Reported On First Day Of School In Fayette County

No major problems were reported on opening day in the state's second largest public school system in Lexington.
Few problems were reported Wednesday on opening day in the Fayette County Public School system, according to school officials.

Lexington Police said a few drivers were cited for not stopping for school buses, but no injuries or accidents were reported. 

Among the noticeable changes in the state's second largest public school system, free breakfast and lunch for all students at 27 schools because of changes to the national school lunch and breakfast program.  

If 40-percent of the student population qualified for federal assistance, all students could get free meals.

The national program reimburses school districts for money spent on food.
