The acoustic sound that symbolizes Kentucky took center stage Thursday in Lexington.

The Festival of the Bluegrass kicked off at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Now in it's 40th year, the three day event is bigger than ever.

The 'Lexington Area Music Alliance' started the celebration a few days early with bluegrass-focus entertainment throughout the city.

The festival runs through Saturday.
