Leading up to Fifth Third Day on Friday, bank employees spent Tuesday celebrating their “Feeding Our Communities” campaign by volunteering at God’s Pantry Food Bank.

“We’re counting macaroni instead of counting money today,” said Fifth Third marketing manager, Brant Welch.

The food they packaged will be sent to food pantries around the community.

Clients at the food pantry at St. Luke’s Church in Lexington told ABC36 that they depend on the time and money from volunteers.

“People don’t realize what it is until you need it,” said Randall Watkins, a God’s Pantry client.

Watkins said everyone should do their part to help others when they are able to.

“You don’t ever know from one day to the next what’s going to happen.”

Fifth Third Bank is also raising money for local food banks. Donations can be made at local Fifth Third locations.
