Some parents of Fayette County Public School students were critical of the district for not delaying the start of classes Wednesday morning as strong storms were moving through the area.

ABC 36 News asked School Superintendent Tom Shelton to respond to the criticism.

He said the district makes its decision about weather related delays or closings by 5:00 a.m.

Shelton said on Wednesday, it was decided the students would not be at risk, so there wasn't any reason to delay the start of classes.

He added that by the time a delayed start would have been communicated to everyone, the worst of the storm would have been over.

Out of touch Superintendant is par for the course. Is this the best we can do for the salary we are paying him. Our kids deserve better consideration than his forethought has given them. FCSB needs an enema.
