The Fayette County School Board appears to be rethinking proposed cuts to the school nurse program.
The Fayette County School Board appears to be rethinking proposed cuts to the school nurse program.

The Federal Government is cutting funding to the health department by $500,000.

Fayette County schools had 30 nurses last year.

The new proposal includes 13 Registered Nurses and 14 Licensed Practical Nurses.

They would be backed by school employees who would give out medicine.

The proposal was going to be voted on Monday at a school board meeting.

But it was pulled from the agenda.

Superintendent Tom Shelton says the district is reconsidering some of the cuts.

Some parents have opposed the suggested changes.
