Taxpayer money for health care for the poor and uninsured in Fayette County will no longer go to HealthFirst Bluegrass.

The county's Board of Health is cutting ties with the organizations after months of disagreements between the two groups.

Each board operates independently, but the Board of Health helps fund the HealthFirst operation.

The search for a replacement organization begins immediately.

The Health Commissioner says the move will not affect patient care or services, and the 138 employees working in the public health clinic will not lose their jobs.
