A mother in Lexington lost her only child when he was shot and killed in August. He’s the victim of an unsolved homicide, and his mother is searching for answers.

“I can't even begin to tell you how that makes a parent feel,” Jane Gill said. “To see your child laying there lifeless.”

Police said this is the one homicide – out of the 14 total homicide cases in 2012 – that police said remains unsolved.

According to the detectives, Brain Lee Hodge, 31, at the Dakota and 7th Street intersection. They said a lot of people were there when an argument broke out. As Hodge was walking away, he was shot several times.

“It just hurts to know that was my child. They just struck him down. They just struck him down.

Sergeant Pete Ford said the problem the department is having with this case is that there were many people out at the scene when it happened. Ford said they’ve had several leads, but none of them have been successful.

“You just can't take somebody's life and expect the family to just forget about it,” Gill said. “Just because they're not around ... The hurt is still deep.”
