Family Friend Remembers Jose Zambrano After Accidental Drowning

Funeral arrangements have been set for 19-year-old Jose Zambrano, who drowned Sunday in the Green River Lake.
Debbie Lanham, a family friend of Jose Zambrano said he was always smiling, happy, and fully of energy. He also loved his family dearly.

Zambrano was with his family Sunday afternoon at Green River Lake in Taylor County for a family church service and picnic.

Lanham believes two young children began to float too far from shore, so the 2013 Marion County High School graduate swam out to get them.

After bringing them to shore, their floaties blew back into the water. When Zambrano went to retrieve them, he never made it back to shore.

Lanham said, "He was very friendly, good student, very conscientious about his work. In fact, very hard working young man. He worked very hard and had a good work ethic."

Funeral arrangements have been set at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Lebanon.

The visitation will start at noon on Tuesday, followed by a special service at 7:00. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning.
