Fallen Firefighter Returns Home

The body of Whitley City volunteer firefighter Lt. Arlie "Pooh" Hill was brought back from University of Cincinnati Medical to McCreary County.
From Cincinnati to McCreary County, fire fighters across the Commonwealth said goodbye to one of their own Tuesday.

Firefighters along I-75 lined the route and stood at attention, saluting a precession of emergency vehicles that carried Hill's body back to McCreary County.

Whitley City Volunteer Fire Fighter Lt. Arlie Hill died Sunday, succumbing to his burn injuries he suffered two months ago.

Hill ran into a burning building in his hometown with no gear, trying to save what he thought was a child trapped inside.

When Hill entered the structure the door behind him slammed shut from the fire and trapped him inside.

No one else was found in the building.

Lt. Hill was off duty at the time of the fire.

He's survived by his wife and three and four year-old children.

Funeral arrangements for Hill will be Saturday, November, 2nd.

Visitation will be at 10am at the McCreary Central High School.

The service will be at 2 pm, also at McCreary Central High School
