Bardstown officer Jason Ellis will be among the 286 names added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC, complete with a candlelight ceremony being held Tuesday night.
The vigil will also be broadcast in Bardstown at the Farmers' Market, which will include a wreath ceremony beginning at 7:15pm.
It was a year ago May 25 that Ellis was shot to death on the Bluegrass Parkway while getting debris out of the middle of a roadway, according to police.
Ellis' widow, Amy, along with Bardstown Cheif Rick McCubbin, will be attending the ceremony in Washington.
"I want to thank the community for the unending love, support and prayers that has been poured on our family throughout the past year," Amy said on her Facebook page. "Please continue to remember us as we continue trying to put the pieces of our shattered lives together."
