The Faith and Community Christmas Store, this year located at Southland Christian Church, provides toys and clothes for needy families. After thousands of people showed up to shop today, organizers say they’re running out of items to give.

“This time of year, Christmas can instead of being a time of joy is a time of depression,” Ginny Ramsey, one of the organizers, said. “And a time of being without again.”

Ginny Ramsey, one of the organizers, said they’re handing out an extra 1,000 tickets Thursday morning at 8 a.m.

People who have a ticket can then go pick out a few clothing items for themselves and toys for their children for free.

Ramsey said this is the 18th year the Faith and Community Christmas Store has been operating in Lexington, and they expect to have a record number of about 20,000 shoppers this year.

“We're saying help. We're walking in faith by extending the number of tickets, but we know that this community will respond,” Ramsey said.

Gently used clothes and toys can be dropped off at Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road in Lexington both Thursday and Friday starting at 8 a.m.
