The city says drivers should plan ahead before traveling downtown Lexington on Saturday, October 19th.

There are several events happening near or around Lexington Center, Rupp Arena and the Lexington Opera House.

The Bourbon Chase Race will affect West Main Street at Broadway to Jefferson.

West Vine Street from West Main to Broadway will also be closed from 10:00am to 11:00pm for the finish line celebration at Triangle Park.

The World Spirit Cheer and Dance competition will be taking place at Lexington Center’s Heritage Hall from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

The Kentucky Reading Association is holding a meeting at the convention center from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

The country music group Florida Georgia Line is set to perform for about 13,000 people Saturday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The New Orleans Pelicans will take on the Washington Wizards in a pre-season game at Rupp Arena at 7:00pm.

And the Lexington Opera House will host two performances of Les Miserables Saturday afternoon and evening.

The city recommends the following routes to avoid traffic congestion:

From West (Frankfort/Louisville) – Take Versailles Rd. North and turn left into the Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 3.

From North – Take the Newtown Pike Exit off of I-64/75 and stay on Newtown Pike, cross over Main St. onto Oliver Lewis Way and turn left into the Manchester St. Lot.

Traveling from the North on Highways 27, 60 or 68 continue in town and turn west on New Circle Road (Highway 4). Continue until the Newtown Exit and turn south following Newtown Road, cross over Main St. onto Oliver Lewis Way and turn left into the Manchester St. Lot.

Traveling from the South on Highways 27 or 68, turn west on New Circle Road and travel to the Versailles Road exit. Turn right and follow Versailles Road into downtown and enter the Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 3.

Traveling from the East, take Exit 104 (Richmond Road) and follow it into downtown Lexington, turn left on Broadway and right on High Street to enter Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 1 or 2.
