The Kentucky Hospital Association has awarded Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center the Quality Award in recognition of "hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety and commitment in patient care."

The award, presented May 10th, is the second the medical center has received from the the KHA in three years.

In 2010 Ephraim McDowell won the KHA Quality Award for excellence in their total knee and hip replacement program.

Vicki A. Darnell, president & CEO of the hospital said the award "further validates the four Gold Seals of Excellence previously awarded to EMRMC by The Joint Commission for providin such high quality care for our orthopedic and spinal patients," and that Danville Orthopedics and Dr. Robert Knetsche of the Central Kentucky Spine Center were crucial to the recognition.
