Scott County Fire Department said eight horses died Sunday morning during a barn fire.

They said the fire started around 6 a.m. on Ironworks Road.

Firefighters said it spread so fast that the barn was destroyed by the time they arrived.

Investigators are still looking into what started the fire.

According to firefighters, the gravel road leading up to the barn was covered in ice and snow.

They said a couple of their fire trucks slide off the road and got stuck, but they were able to pull them out.
