East Kentucky Power Asks Customers To Conserve Due To Cold

East Kentucky Power Cooperative is asking customers to conserve electricity on Tuesday because of the frigid weather.
East Kentucky Power Cooperative and PJM Interconnection are asking customers to conserve electricity on Tuesday due to the extreme cold.

If health permits, customers are asked to especially conserve from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

EKPC gave these conservation steps:
  • Set thermostats lower than usual, if health permits
  • Postpone using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers and clothes dryers until mid-day or after 9:00 p.m., when the demand for electricity decreases
  • Turn off electric lights and appliances that you don't need or aren't using
EKPC provides electric power and transmission service to 16 electric cooperatives that serve all or portions of 87 Kentucky counties.

EKPC is a member of PJM Interconnection.
