Eastern Kentucky University's rugby club will appeal a two-year suspension issued by university officials after a reported hazing incident.

The group's treasurer told the Lexington Herald-Leader yesterday in an email that the university's findings are based on information that is "false and misconstrued."

EKU officials said on Thursday that they were suspending the club after they say the team paddled a freshman with a two-by-four.

The university says this was part of the initiation rite that has been practiced for more than two years.
