Eastern Kentucky University has issued a safety alert as a result of an escaped inmate.

The Estill County Jailer says Daniel Patterson was being transfered to the from the Clark County Jail to the Estill County Jail for a trial Wednesday when he escaped.

Patterson's wife had an emergency protective order against him. Since she is a EKU student, the school issued the bulletin.

The university says it's standard practice and there's no reason to think that he is anywhere near the campus.

State police believe Patterson may have stolen a black Dodge Dakota pickup truck with the license plate number 668EAB.
