Dunbar Marching Band To Perform In 2014 Macy's Parade

The Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Marching Band has been chosen to perform in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Creative Director of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Wesley Whatley, made the surprise announcement to the students, staff and families during the school's spring concert.

Whatley said the marching band will be performing in 2014 in front of more than 50 million people.

"When we watch it on TV at my house," sophomore color guard Lindsay Wood said, "I always look at the color guard thinking, 'Oh, I wish I could be on that.'"

Dunbar will be one of 10 marching bands in the parade. Hundreds of applications were submitted from across the country.
