A Dunbar High School baseball player is in serious condition after getting hurt on a spring break trip to Florida, according to Florida Police.

A witness says Travis Gaines,18, mistimed a wave, dove into shallow water, and hit the sand head first Tuesday afternoon. Fire officials said Gaines was flown to a hospital in Pensacola, and during the flight he couldn't feel anything from his chest down.

A Fayette County Schools spokeswoman said Gaines was in Florida for a baseball trip. She said the family has set up an account with Fifth Third Bank for donations. The Account Number at the bank is: 7381120349. The Routing number: 042101190. All Checks are to be made payable to: "Benefit for Travis Gaines."
