Police are still searching for a driver who crashed a pickup truck into a fire hydrant off New Circle Road early Monday morning, flooding a nearby area.

It happened between the Georgetown Road and Newtown Pike exits on New Circle.

When police arrived, they said they found footprints in the snow leading away from the truck, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

The force of the crash busted the water main connected to the fire hydrant. Water flowed down the side of New Circle Road and flooded some parking lots for about two hours.

Crews blocked one lane of New Circle Road while they got the situation under control.

Officials with Kentucky American Water said the hydrant will be repaired some time Monday morning.

Police have not found the driver yet, but said the truck was registered to someone living in Martin County.

Police said a salt truck treated the area to keep any leftover water from freezing.
