Dramatic Testimony in Berea Deadly Shooting Case

Berea Detective testifies in deadly shooting.
Zachary Flower was shot to death inside his apartment on Chestnut Street in Berea on November 21st.  His roommate Kevin Price was also shot but is recovering, that's according to investigators.

Matthew Denholm is charged with Flower's murder. His brother, Ryan Denholm, and his girlfriend, Sherry Bratten, are charged with complicity to murder.  Investigators say they were there at the time of the shooting.  Another man, Randall Burgess Junior faces a lesser charge of facilitation to murder.  Investigators say he did nothing to stop the shooting.

All four suspects were in Madison County Court for the first time on Wednesday.  Berea Police Detective Daniel Brewer took the stand.  He was the only one who testified at the hearing.  He explains the shooting stemmed from a fight that happened the night before between the suspects, the victims and several others in the victims' apartment complex parking lot.

"There was a good whoopin' that happened at the time.  They're not denying that.  There was blood on a bicycle down there. There was blood on the sidewalk.  We didn't even know where the blood had come from," says Det. Brewer.

Detective Brewer also testified that, after the fight broke-up, Matt Denholm made threats to the victims, "there was a lot of threatening going on, the mention of a shot gun, coming back to hurt, kill."

Detective Brewer testified that Price saw his roommate killed, "he witnessed Matt Denholm shoot Zack Flower in the chest, through the wrist and the face."
