The Helix garage, formally known as the Annex Garage, will be temporarily closed over the weekend of June 7-9 to add a protective coating to the circular Helix exit ramp.

The garage will close at 6 p.m., Friday, June 7, and reopen at 5 a.m., Monday, June 10.

“Most of the work on the interior portions of the garage is complete and we are moving into Phase 2, where we will be making improvements to the exterior of the Helix,” Parking Authority Executive Director Gary Means said.

"The work this weekend will consist of adding protective coatings to the curb and walls of the exit ramp. These improvements cannot be completed with vehicles exiting the Helix."

Alternative free parking can be found on the city’s Phoenix Lot on Water Street, behind the Helix. The Transit Center Garage at High and Vine streets is also available for free parking. And all parking meters in the downtown area are free after 5 p.m. Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday.
