Downtown Annex Garage Opens

Finding a parking spot downtown should be a little easier now.  The Annex garage reopened Monday morning. 

Lexpark closed the garage for 6 months to renovate it.  The garage was built in the 60's, and Lexpark says it is the most frequently used garage downtown.  Lexpark says up to 700 cars go in and out on a busy day.  Lexpark spent $3 million renovating the garage.  The first thing you would notice is how much brighter it is, but Lexpark says it's also safer.

"At least 48 tons of new steel, and over 80 truck loads to make this garage safe.  So, where people used to see supports holding this thing up, supports are not needed anymore, and the concrete's safe," said Lexpark Executive Director Gary Means.

Means calls this phase one of the renovations.  He hopes to work on the exterior as well.
