Centre College in Danville has announced it will no longer receive a $250 million donation from the A. Eugene Brockman Charitable Trust.

The gift, announced in late July, would have been the largest ever made to a private liberal arts college in the United States.

The donation was part of a planned complex business deal, but after changes in the market, the company withdrew the gift.

The donation would have funded full scholarships for 40 new students each year at Centre College.
