Richmond Police said a two-year old boy was bitten in the face by a pit bull and had to be taken to U.K. Hospital for possible surgery.

Investigators said the boy suffered a significant laceration to the side of the head.

Police said it happened Thursday in the 700 block of Sizemore Drive.

Investigators said the dog's owner, Billie J. Martin, 29, of Richmond, was cited for Harboring a Vicious Animal.

Police said she was also ordered to quarantine the dog pending further action by the Health Department and the courts.
