The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed KY 1505 at the Dix River Bridge in Rockcastle County as a safety measure due to structural deterioration.

A detour route is signed via KY 1326.

According to the Rockcastle County Sheriff, the bridge could be closed up to a year for repairs.

The Sheriff said as a result of the closure, the only way into Brodhead is now 20-miles away.

The Sheriff said officials are working on coming up with an alternate route for emergency vehicles only, to reduce response time in the city of Brodhead.

The emergency route will not be open to the public.

The Transportation Cabinet said engineers are continuing to assess repair plans and are also investigating options to alleviate the traffic disruption due to the bridge closing.
