Firefighters said six out of seven displaced families were able to return home Wednesday after evacuating because of a gas leak.

The affected houses were on Glengarry Way in Lexington.

Investigators said construction workers hit a line.

Columbia Gas was brought in to assess what needed to be repaired.

Lexington Firefighters said the homes were ventilated so that it was safe for residents to return.

But one house was not deemed safe for return, firefighters said, because its meters were pulled by utility workers.
