Are you ready to Share the Lex? The Convention and Visitors Bureau is leaving it up to the people of Lexington to give guests an authentic experience by tweeting, facebooking and instagramming using #ShareTheLex.
The CVB launched a YouTube video, featuring Daniel Boone, to encourage Lexingtonians to use #ShareTheLex and highlight their favorite spots on social media.
This will give visitors to Lexington or those planning a trip to the area a more authentic, local feel.
“When people travel to a destination, when they travel to Lexington, they want to do what the locals do,” said Mary Quinn Ramer, the Vice President of Tourism Marketing at the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau about this new crowd-sourced destination guide.
A Cup of Common Wealth, a local coffee shop in downtown Lexington, is one of the businesses featured in the video. Co-Owners Chris Ortiz and Salvador Sanchez have embraced the campaign and have had new customers at their coffee shop because of the hashtag.
“It's a campaign kind of built around everything we love about this place so we hopped on board hands down,” said Ortiz.
