According to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a car headed south on I-75 early Monday morning lost control after hitting a patch of black ice.

Investigators said the vehicle spun into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

It happened two miles south of London.

Officers said the three people in the car all received serious injuries.

One of them, Svetlana Frkovic of Canada, was critically injured.

Investigators said she later died at the hospital.

Sheriff's Deputies said the two men in the tractor trailer were not injured.
