The Scott County Sheriff's Office said a reported kidnapping was fake.

Deputies went to a truck stop at exit 129 on I-75, Friday evening.

A Michigan woman said she was kidnapped, and got away from a semi with three people inside.

When investigators arrived, they said her story changed.

According to a deputy, the woman is on probation in Michigan, and she was afraid she was going to get in trouble for leaving the state - so she made up a kidnapping story.

Deputy Jeremy Johnson said this wasted everyone's time and effort.

"It does take a lot of our resources and time away when people will report crimes falsely, especially with the magnitude. We had several different agencies looking for a semi that wasn't there."

The woman didn't receive a citation in Scott County, but Michigan will pursue charges.
