Deputies say a social worker's visit to a Laurel County home turned violent Wednesday afternoon.

They say 20-year-old James R. Johnson was at the home on Tom Cat Trail when the social worker showed up to check on the family who lived there.

Deputies say Johnson became enraged and went across the street and threatened a neighbor who he believed had called social services.

The neighbor told deputies he went and got his pistol to protect himself but Johnson grabbed it from him and pointed it at him.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Johnson took the gun with him and went back to the house.

Deputies say he then pointed the pistol toward where the social worker was hiding.

Johnson is facing robbery and assault charges.
