Deputies Investigate Death Of Laurel County Inmate

Investigators are trying to figure out what led the to death of a Laurel County inmate.

The jail says 28-year-old Cortney Beldon of Corbin died around midnight Saturday at Saint Joseph Hospital.

Investigators say Beldon had spent about 5 days in jail on drug charges and had been seen by medical staff several times.

The jail says staff found her almost unconscious around 11:00 Friday night.

According to investigators, staff started CPR on Beldon.

She was rushed to the hospital where she died about an hour later.

The jail is investigating the death internally.

And the Laurel County Sheriff's Office is also looking into what happened.
