Deputies Investigate Deadly Duplex Fire In Laurel County

According to police in Laurel County one person has died after a duplex fire.

Fire and police officials say they responded to a home on Dorthae Road near Corbin after they received a call about an explosion.

A body was found in the driver’s seat of a car in the damaged carport.

Police say they do not know the identity or gender of the victim because of the severe burn wounds.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says following a scene investigation, and an investigation to locate the person who lived at the residence, contact with another family member, and I.D. found on the body an I.D. was determined.

Officials say the victims name is Neil Spitzer age 29 of Dorthae Road, Corbin.

The cause of death remains under investigation.
