The Lexington Tap and Jazz Company held free dance classes today.

Owner Karyn Combs said she wants people to be aware of the physical benefits of dance, like how it get your heartbeat up and helps tone your muscles.

Combs said tap dancing requires the dancers to count, memorize sequences and learn rhythm at the same time, which uses both the body and mind at the same time.
