The Department of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers about a nationwide voluntary recall announced by The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and five major retailers.
Refunds will be made available to consumers who have purchased any of the recalled crib tents or play yard tents made by Tots in Mind, Inc.
According to CPSC, infants and toddlers are at risk of serious injury or death due to strangulation and entrapment by these products, and urges parents and caregivers to stop using these crib tents and play yard tents immediately. Do not attempt to repair these products.
At least 27 tent failures, including one fatality and one serious brain injury occurred between January 1997 and April 2012 from these crib tents.
The manufacturer, Tots in Mind, Inc., has gone out of business, but retailers who sold these products are offering refunds or store credit to consumers. The recalled products were sold at numerous retail stores and online for between $60 and $85.
Consumers should contact the store listed below where the crib tent was purchased to receive either a refund or store credit, depending on the retailer. If consumer is unsure of where the crib tent was purchased, see return policy for individual retailers below on their website:
