The worst of this winter storm is over but roads could still be slick.
Lexington’s temperatures were above the freezing point for most of Sunday afternoon. Main roads are wet but road crews were out all night treating them.
Some side streets are still slushy and could be slick. Crews spent Sunday treating them.
Lexington road crews say they were able to put down salt but since it was cloudy all day, not everything that was frozen might have had a chance to melt.
Road crews are still asking drivers to be careful.
“Be cautious, there are areas in town that are slick,” said Barney Byram with Lexington Streets and Roads. “Be cautious of our salt trucks that are out there. They’re big vehicles and they can’t stop on a dime."
Crews will continue to treat side streets Sunday night and they plan to stay on-call until there is zero chance for a refreeze.
Although the worst is over, they say to be careful driving Sunday night and Monday morning especially on side streets.
