A couple was arrested Saturday and charged with two crimes that happened nearly two months apart.
Police said Benjamin Lancaster, 33, was seen acting suspiciously in Commonwealth Stadium’s parking lot while thousands were there tailgating for UK’s home opener.
When officers searched his bag, they said they found drugs and several credit cards that had been inside a purse that was stolen.
Police said Lancaster had given the stolen purse to Becky Atkinson, 31, and she tried to hide it from police by placing it inside a porta-potty toilet.
Both were charged with receiving stolen property and tampering with physical evidence.
Lancaster and Atkinson are also charged with a violent robbery that happened in July.
In that case, police said Atkinson brought her dad’s friend to a home on Woodward Lane, telling him they were there to find some pills that her father had lost.
When they got there, Lancaster allegedly attacked the man and stole his wallet, which contained a credit card and $3,000 cash.
Police said the man suffered injuries to his arm, face, head and ear.
Lancaster is charged with robbery. Atkinson is charged with facilitation to robbery.
