A Rowan County couple is facing charges after troopers said they found the remains of a premature infant at their home.

State Police said social services was concerned that it might have information on a dead infant.

Troopers said they had a search warrant when they went to a home on Igo Road.

According to detectives, that's where the remains were found.

State Police said Johnathan Prater and Edith Strange are charged in the case.

The couple was already in jail after troopers said they found their six children living in deplorable conditions.

That was back in late December.

Troopers said Prater and Strange starved and abused the kids.
