The Fayette County said Jacob Blankenship, 17, was one of the juveniles killed along the Bluegrass Parkway last night in Anderson County.

According to the coroner, Blankenship was riding in the front passenger seat of a pick-up truck that hit a parked semi-truck Friday night.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to UK Hospital for surgery.

State Police said shortly before 6:00 p.m., a 2010 Nissan Pickup, with four people inside, slammed into the back of a parked 2012 Freightliner Tractor Trailer that was stopped on the shoulder of the westbound lane near mile marker 51.

One of the people in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

Investigators said the other two people in the pickup and the semi driver were taken by ambulance to UK Hospital.

The State Police Post 12 Accident Reconstruction Team was leading the investigation.
