A student at East Jessamine High School has a confirmed case of Pertussis, also known as whooping cough.

School officials sent a letter was sent home to parents Monday. They said this is the third or fourth case of Pertussis the school district has seen this year. The school said it is using a cleaning method, similar to one used when there is a flu outbreak to clean the school.

Officials said the student must have a letter from a doctor before they can return to school.
