A special collection drive will honor a Kentucky Soldier killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

19-year-old Private First Class Dustin Gross was from Montgomery County.

Now the community is starting a collection to send items to other soldiers serving in the Middle East.

'Operation Dustin Gross' will be from 9am- 5pm this Saturday at the American Legion Post at 1091 Winchester Road in Mt. Sterling.

Organizers will be taking up things like disposable razors, travel deodorant, DVDs, phone cards, trail mix, hard candy and money to pay for the shipping of the items.

Governor Beshear says flags will be lowered to half staff the day of PFC Gross' funeral.

We don't know yet what day that will be.
