Clean-Up Continues From Tornadoes

Five days after killer tornadoes ravaged Kentucky, clean up continues.
Clean up continued in areas hard hit by last Friday’s killer tornadoes.  Take Laurel County, where a twister was on the ground for more than ten miles and five people died.  On Wilson Road, a small lane sandwiched between I-75 and US 25, numerous volunteers armed with chain saws help cut up downed trees and pile up the rubble.

Of the seven houses on that short road the only one that can be salvaged is Mike and Jewell Cooks’.  “It’s just been overwhelming, the community and people,” Mrs. Cook said of the outpouring of help.  “Words just can’t express how thankful we are.”

In East Bernstadt a tornado relief center has been set up where victims can get clothing and other living essentials.  Area churches worked together to organize the volunteer effort.
