I don't know why the county wants to have another public hearing. We've already had two hearings that were standing room only and the three restaurants in the county that would be affected attended these two hearings and voiced their support for Sunday sales. The county commissioners and judge were there also and heard the comments, so another hearing is a waste of time unless they are wanted to get more churches against the three restaurants. Winchester is so slow moving and backward. When Somerset voted to go wet, they went all the way, allowing alcohol sales on Sunday, even at the grocery stores. Winchester is years away from doing that. Two of the county restaurants are on the river, Halls and Waterfront Cafe. Waterfront Cafe goes up for auction in August but has stated that if they could get Sunday sales, they would stay in the county. Halls' says they have customers walk out all the time on Sunday for not allowing alcohol sales. These two places are seasonal and need another day to make as much as they can through the summer. They starve in the winter. So why can't the county commissioners just go ahead and vote, they have already heard twice from the public on this, and by far, the public, the restaurants, and businesses were for it. Why wait, just dragging their feet. We so need some progressive leadership in this town, as it is dying a slow death. My daughter moved to Mt. Sterling and loves it. My son moved to Georgetown and loves it. If I was not so old, I would pack up and leave this boring little backward town also.
