City Of Lexington Prepared For Snow And Ice

Salt trucks and plows are prepared for whatever weather hits the area over the next 24-hours.
The director of Lexington's Division of Streets and Roads said that a combination of plows, salt and salt brine would be used to keep roads clear of snow and ice in anticipation of weather moving in on Wednesday afternoon.

An estimated 85 city employees, plus back-ups, are assigned to snow removal duty.

The city's snow and ice priority plan identifies streets essential to traffic movement.  Those streets are cleared on a priority basis.

Citizens can call the Traffic Hotline through the city's Traffic Management Center at 859-258-3611 to hear traffic updates or check local road conditions.

The public can get information on accidents, lane blockages, snow and ice trouble spots and road closures through Twitter (@lexwrecks) or through the Cross-town Traffic show.  The show broadcasts live from 6:30-8:30 a.m. weekdays on cable GTV3.
