Police are looking for three suspects in a Lexington home invasion late Sunday night.

It happened just before midnight at an apartment on East Loudon Avenue, near Idlewild Court.

Police said four children and their parents were inside the apartment when three masked men busted in the door and rushed inside.

Police said one of those men was armed with a gun, another with a knife.

Police said shots were fired inside the home, but no one was hit.

The man inside got into a fight with one of the suspects, suffering a minor injury to his hand.

The suspects then took off without taking anything from the home.

Police are still searching for the men.

Sadly enough, I see home invasion stories such as this in the news almost every day. Usually intruders just kick-in the door. In my opinion, the most effective and least expensive thing you can do to protect yourself is to add good door security hardware to your doors to make them as secure as possible. You can get what's called a Door Security Pro ( http://www.DoorSecurityPro.com ) which will stop door kick-ins. It's a long, thick metal plate that reinforces wooden door frames which is what usually breaks when someone kicks in a door.
