Somerset Police say a 3-year-old was hit and killed by a car his mother was driving Monday afternoon.

Officials say Brittany Helton, 23, was parking her Honda Civic outside SomerPlace Apartments on South Main Street when she hit her 3-year-old son, Shannon Norris.

They say he was pinned to the apartment building by the car for a short time.

Police say Norris was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and pronounced dead.

The Somerset Police Department Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the incident.
