Cherry Blossom Festival Comes To Downtown

The first ever Cherry Blossom Festival comes to downtown Lexington.
Downtown Lexington had a very oriental feel Saturday afternoon.
It was the first annual Cherry Blossom Festival held in front of the Fayette County Courthouse.
The event featured world renowned Taiko drummers, origami workshops and even a chance to try on kimonos.
The festival marks the 100th anniversary of Japan giving the U.S. three-thousand cherry blossom trees which were planted in Washington D.C. as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
Twenty offspring of those original cherry blossom trees can be found here in central Kentucky including on the UK campus and arboretum.
